Drivin’ N’ (Almost) Cryin’

I guess you could say I’ve been living the life this summer.  Living it so much, in fact, that I’ve slacked on blogging about it.  Truth be told, it’s just been some grueling / boring work you wouldn’t want to hear about anyway.  Been practicing for the darkroom show on Thursday, tripping over a couple new song ideas, and doing final overdubs and mixes for the trio recordings. This last one I think I finally finished today. I drove around in the car this fine and windy Labor Day, listened to two different mixes, got a little choked up, and settled on one of ‘em. Going to live with this “final version” for another week just to make sure there’s nothing disastrous…but there probably won’t be. I’ve been listening to these songs a lot, more than any set of songs I’ve ever assembled. There’s still some kind of hiss when I listen on my new Grado headphones…but that’s what makes me me. Or something. Basically, the stuff sounds amazing to me, and I can’t wait for you to hear it. Soon, soon…

And yes, Amy just finished designing the CD cover, and it’s frigging awesome. It makes me wish this thing was going to be on twelve inch vinyl, just to show off her photo, which in turn shows off her textile work. Could I be more cryptic? Well, go on over to her blog for a sneak peek at certain…elements of it. (!!!) The question remains whether I’ll do this as a typical CD-R release or if I’ll pony up for a proper CD pressing. (Pressing? Whatever…) I have a pet theory that people care so little about CDs now that perhaps they’ve gotten cheaper to produce, and maybe they offer them in smaller batches. I’m probably wrong about that. But stay tuned for format details just the same.
